Portsmouth Private Chefs – Terms & Conditions

Introduction

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern all private chef services provided by Portsmouth Private Chefs, including bespoke private dining, in-home chef services, tasting menus, and culinary experiences.

References to “we”, “us”, or “our” refer to Portsmouth Private Chefs.
References to “you” or “your” refer to the client, host, or contracting party.

These Terms do not affect your statutory rights under the laws of England and Wales.

1. Services & Engagement

1.1. All services are subject to written confirmation and acceptance of a quotation.
1.2. We reserve the right to refuse or decline bookings at our discretion.
1.3. By confirming a booking, you agree to these Terms & Conditions in full.

2. Menus & Event Specifications

2.1. All menus, service details, and quotations must be agreed in writing prior to confirmation.
2.2. Any changes to agreed menus, guest numbers, timings, or service scope may incur additional charges.
2.3. All dietary requirements and allergies must be provided in writing before confirmation. While all reasonable precautions are taken, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
2.4. Food prepared and served should be consumed within two hours unless otherwise advised. We accept no liability for food consumed outside this timeframe or removed from the service location.

3. Pricing & Payment

3.1. All prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.
3.2. Prices may be adjusted due to changes in supplier costs, market conditions, or taxation prior to confirmation.
3.3. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure all bookings unless agreed otherwise in writing.
3.4. The remaining balance is due no later than 14 days before the service date.
3.5. Payments are accepted via bank transfer, card payment, or other agreed methods.
3.6. Failure to pay the balance by the due date may result in cancellation, with the deposit forfeited.

4. Cancellation & Refunds

4.1. All cancellations must be submitted in writing.
4.2. Deposits are non-refundable under all circumstances.
4.3. Cancellations made within 7 days of the scheduled service date will be charged 100% of the total agreed fee.
4.4. We reserve the right to cancel services due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (including illness, force majeure, or supplier failure). In such cases, all monies paid will be refunded in full, with no further liability.

5. Liability & Insurance

5.1. Services will be delivered with reasonable skill, care, and professionalism.
5.2. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of enjoyment, business interruption, or reputational damage.
5.3. We accept no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property, or for allergic reactions beyond reasonable precautions.
5.4. Our total liability shall not exceed the total amount paid for the service.
5.5. We maintain appropriate public liability insurance for all private chef services.

6. Equipment & Property

6.1. Any equipment supplied by Portsmouth Private Chefs remains our property unless otherwise agreed in writing.
6.2. You are responsible for any loss or damage to our equipment caused by you or your guests.
6.3. Costs for repair or replacement will be invoiced where applicable.

7. Health, Safety & Hygiene

7.1. All services comply with UK Food Safety, Environmental Health, and Health & Safety legislation.
7.2. You are responsible for ensuring the kitchen and service environment is safe, clean, and equipped with adequate utilities (water, power, ventilation).
7.3. We reserve the right to refuse service if conditions are deemed unsafe or unsuitable.

8. Data Protection & Confidentiality

8.1. Personal data is processed in accordance with UK GDPR and Data Protection legislation.
8.2. All information shared between parties will be treated as confidential and used solely for the delivery of agreed services.

9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

9.1. These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
9.2. Both parties agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
